The Wylie Boys Powerlifting team was breaking regional records last week. Now they're heading to state.

Congratulations to the team members who qualified for the Texas High School Powerlifting Association state meet after placing at the regional meet March 10-11 at Wylie's Bulldog Gym.

WHS is sending eight lifters to the state meet after each qualified in their respective weight class. Landry Carlton and Cayden Clay also brought home individual gold medals. Carlton's total combined lift of 1515 pounds set a new regional lift record as well.

Lifters combine their total weight of three lifts - bench press, squat and dead lift - for a final total score.

The WHS powerlifters will compete at the THSPA state meet on Saturday, March 25 in Abilene.
