The Wylie Community Center, better known as "The Doghouse" is a state of the art indoor all-purpose facility at Wylie High School. The Doghouse is unique in that it was a project undertaken by the community to provide Wylie students the best possible facilities; however, all of the funding for The Doghouse was provided by private donations from the Wylie community. The facility is operated and controlled by the Wylie Independent School District, but no district funds were used in its construction.
Currently, The Doghouse houses a 40 yard long, regulation width field turf football field, a full-size basketball/volleyball court, a 2 lane walking/jogging track, a large weight lifting area, indoor batting cages/golf range, and a pole vault pit.
The Doghouse is open daily to anyone living within the boundaries of the Wylie Independent School District. The field turf football field, basketball/volleyball court, the 2 lane walking/jogging track, and the weight lifting area are normally available for use by INDIVIDUALS (NOT TEAMS) during the hours noted. The indoor batting cages/golf range and pole vault pit are for school use only.
Because team practices involve larger groups that take up entire areas (such as the basketball court or the football field), they are specifically excluded from Doghouse use. --- Thank you.
