WHS NOVEMBER STUDENT ATHLETES OF THE MONTH Wylie ISD and Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union would like to congratulate the six Wylie High School students selected as the WHS Student-Athletes of the Month for November: ALICIA CORREA TRUJILLO Senior Alicia is a four-year member of the WHS swim team. She also competes in UIL Literary Criticism, serves in the WHS PALS program, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Away from school, Alicia works at the YMCA and as a private tutor. Her hobbies include crocheting, baking, reading, and working out. After Wylie High, Alicia plans to attend college and study international relations. ARNAV GARLAPATI Senior Arnav is a four-year member of the Wylie tennis program. He is a member of the National Honor Society and WHS Student Council, and he competes on the UIL Math and Science teams. He volunteers at the Abilene Zoo and Hendrick Medical Center, and he dedicates time working on UIL event preparation with a group of students each week. Arnav plans to further his education in college and become a medical surgeon. JT PARTIN Junior JT is a three-year member of the WHS swim team. Away from WHS, he loves to hunt, fish, sing, and play his guitar. He also leads music in his church’s youth group. JT plans to study business at Texas Tech University and eventually start his own business. JOSH PATTERSON Senior Josh is a 2-year member on the Bulldog varsity football team. He is a selected member of the WHS National Honor Society, and outside of school, he volunteers his time and talents at Holy Family Church and the Abilene Zoo. After graduation, Josh plans to attend Texas Tech University. MYCALA REED Senior Mycala has been in both the WHS volleyball and softball programs for four years. She is also involved in the PALS program at WHS along with being a member of the National Honor Society. She goes to church at Beltway, and she serves as volunteer coach for various teams around Abilene. She plans to further her education in college and pursue a degree in education. KENNY SCOTT Senior Kenny is a two-year member of the WHS varsity football team. Away from school, you’ll find Kenny enjoying a good book to read, and he focuses his time bettering himself both physically and mentally. He is also a member of the WHS National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Outside of school, Collin attends to church at Beltway Park. Collin aspires to play college baseball while pursuing a bachelor’s degree. TRULEIGH CONOVER Senior Truleigh is a four-year member of the Bulldog tennis program. She is actively involved in Young Life, and she spends her time away from school babysitting and pet sitting for friends and family. After high school, Truleigh plan to attend Texas Tech University. BRANDON COWLING Senior Brandon has been a member of the Wylie tennis program for four seasons. He also competes in UIL Math and Science for WHS. In his spare time, Brandon has played piano for the past eight years. He shares his piano talents at a local nursing home every Tuesday. Brandon plans to attend college and hopefully medical school. MARISA DUDLEY Sophomore Marisa is a member of the WHS track and cross country teams. Away from school, she helps her dad raise cattle, and she also volunteered for a summer at the Abilene Zoo. She attends church at Mt. Zion Baptist. After WHS, Marisa plans to go to college and then medical school to become a pediatrician. CASH MARTIN Senior Cash has been on the Wylie varsity football team for two seasons. He has also been selected to the WHS National Honor Society. He goes to church at Beltway Park. After high school, Cash plans to go to college to get his master’s degree. WESLEY RUFF Senior Wesley is a two-year member of the Wylie varsity volleyball team. The Wylie tennis team claimed another piece of gold hardware Tuesday afternoon as the Bulldogs opened the Class 5A playoff with a 12-0 sweep of Amarillo Caprock. WHS swept all seven doubles matches to start the day and then closed out the match with five singles victories. The 12 total wins was enough to close out the team tennis bi-district championship. The Bulldogs are right back on the court for their area playoff matchup with El Paso High on Thursday, October 12. The match begins at 1:00 p.m. at Midland High School. The Wylie swim team started their 2023-2024 season with a strong showing in the pool last weekend at the UTPB Invite in Odessa. The boys team collected 369 points to finish in 3rd place out of 12 teams while the girls team scored 234 to place 4th out of 10 teams.
