On the road in Weatherford, the Wylie softball team found themselves trailing the Weatherford Lady Roos 5-1 heading into the top of the 6th inning. Then the Bulldog bats came alive.
Powered by a three-run double by Avie Faries, the Lady Bulldogs scored five runs on three hits in the inning to take a 6-5 lead. Weatherford roared back to tie the score at six all in the bottom of the sixth, sending the Wylie Bulldogs to the plate for their final at bat in regulation.
Wynslow Miller scored the go ahead run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly to put the Lady Bulldogs out in front where they would stay.
Faries led the Bulldogs efforts at the plate Tuesday going 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Miller and Kynslee Turner also had multiple hits for the Wylie Lady Bulldogs.
The battery of pitcher Faries and catcher Cameron Gregory surrendered eight hits and four runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking none. Shae McAlister came on to pitch relief for Faries in the fifth, and the Bulldogs sealed the comeback.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 7-0 on the season. They will be back in tournament action this weekend for a three-day tournament in Georgetown. They get started on Thursday at 1:00 versus Belton with Midland Legacy to follow.
