The Wylie girls’ golf team made their final walk up the eighteenth fairway Tuesday afternoon at the Region 1-5A championships in Lubbock, wrapping up a stellar 2025 season with a seventh-place finish against the best from West Texas.
The Lady Bulldogs fought through Monday’s windy conditions to shoot a first-round total of 371. A solid second-round saw WHS shoot a 364 to finish with a two-day total of 735.
Individually, senior Amelie Liew finished her stellar career by placing 16th overall.
“The varsity had the best season since I have been coaching for the last four years,” said WHS golf coach Justin Jarrett. “It has been an amazing year for the Lady Bulldogs, and I could not be prouder of these girls.”
During the season, the team won three tournaments including the District 4-5A title. They also had two second place finishes, two third place finishes and ended the year as the seventh-best team in the region.
Liew finished in the top 10 in every tournament this year with six of those being top five finishes. She and teammates Kiara Fierro, Brighton Diller and Kayla Lovegreen placed in the top four spots at the district tournament and earned All-District honors. That quartet along with Landry Cheyne also received Academic All-District recognition.
