Wylie ISD and Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union would like to congratulate the six Wylie High School students selected as the WHS Student-Athletes of the Month for September 2025.

Talan Baker
Senior
Talan is a member of the state-ranked Bulldog tennis team this fall. He is also in the Wylie High School CNA program and is a member of BHA. Talan owns a window cleaning business called ProGlide that he operates during the summer. After graduation, Talan plans to attend the University of Utah and study biology with aspirations of furthering his education in medical school.

MarcAnthony Cardenas
Senior
MarcAnthony competes in both cross country and tennis at WHS. He is also a member of Pure Gold Marching Band and has been in the National Honor Society since his junior year. MarcAnthony attends Oldham Lane Church of Christ, and he is currently in the Stone Owl program. His plans include attending Abilene Christian University, getting a master’s degree in accounting along with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He then wants to become a CPA and go to law school as an attorney in real estate before he is 30.

Arabella Dlugiewicz
Senior
Arabella is a member of the state-ranked Bulldog tennis team. She also participates in UIL Literary Criticism, UIL Social Studies, Student 2 Student and Citizen Bee, and she volunteers through the WHS National Honor Society. Away from WHS, Arabella volunteers at numerous organizations including the Airmen and Family Readiness Center. Her hobbies include reading and crafts. After high school, Arabella plans to attend college and get a bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in English Literature.

Barrett Huffington
Senior
Barrett is a three-year letterman for the Wylie football team. He also participates in the robotics program and is a member of the WHS National Honor Society. He attends church at Wylie Methodist Church, and he works at both the YMCA and at the movie theater. Barrett plans to attend Angelo State University and study mechanical engineering.

Avery LaCroix
Senior
Avery is a four-year member of the WHS varsity volleyball team, and she also competes in track during the spring. She is a member of the National Honor Society at WHS where she also participates in PALS and The Purple Dog Company. She goes to church at Beltway South, enjoys hanging out with friends and family, and loves to listen to music and play the guitar. Avery wants to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in elementary education.

Paxton Whitlock
Senior
Paxton is a two-year letterman on the Bulldog varsity football team. Outside of his time at WHS, he goes to church at Beltway. Paxton plans to pursue a career as an electrician.
