Wylie ISD and Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union would like to congratulate the six Wylie High School students selected as the WHS Student-Athletes of the Month for October 2025.
Kenley Collier
Junior
Kenley is a member of the 2025 district champion Wylie volleyball team. She’s also involved in PALS, Health Occupations Students of America and is a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, Kenley volunteers at All Kind animal shelter, goes to River of Life church and volunteers in the children’s building as well as the nursery. She loves being with family and playing pickleball with friends, and she looks forward to shadowing an occupational therapist this spring. Kenley plans to play volleyball in college and major in kinesiology and minor in psychology to become a pediatric occupational therapist.
Devyn Collum
Senior
Devyn is a defensive lineman for the Wylie football team this season, and he is in his third year as a teammate of the WHS Unified Bulldogs program. He’s a member of the National Honor Society and serves in the PALS program. Devyn attends church at Beltway South, enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, pickleball, and rides on the Abilene mountain biking team. He enjoys spending time with friends more than anything. After graduation, Devyn plans to study kinesiology at Texas A&M University and later attend a three-year physical therapy school in order to become a pediatric physical therapist.
Steven Cowling
Senior
Steven is a state tournament qualifier for the Bulldog tennis program, both in team tennis and individually. He is a member of the WHS National Honor Society and is heavily involved taking AP courses. He loves to play tennis, hang out with friends, read, and play slow pitch softball. Steven plans to attend University of Texas in Austin.
Gerardo Duarte
Senior
Gerardo is a linebacker for the Bulldog football team. He is also involved in the Purple Dog Company at WHS. Away from school, Gerardo plays golf, goes to church at Holy Family, and reads many different types of books and media. He also enjoys traveling. After graduation, Gerardo plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in business administration/management.
Mya Fierro
Junior
Mya is an individual regional qualifier as part of the Wylie cross country team. She enjoys staying active through running and walks with her sister, and she values spending quality time with family and friends, listening to music, and shopping. After high school, she plans to attend Texas Tech and explore different areas of study to discover what she’s most passionate about while continuing to develop personally and academically.
Hope Willis
Junior
Hope is a 2025 tennis state champion, and she’s a two-year state qualifier with the Wylie tennis team. Hope is also a member of the WHS National Honor Society. She participates in travel tennis regularly including national tournaments with players from around the country. She also loves doing activities with friends and family, listening to music, and watching movies. During the summer, she helps coach a tennis class for children at Rose Park, and she enjoys fitness classes three times a week with her mom and friends. Her future goals include playing college tennis and pursuing a career in the medical field.
