The Wylie High volleyball team recorded one of the best seasons in program history, and certainly the best competing at the Class 5A level.
The Bulldogs went 8-0 in District 2-5A play and advanced to the third round of the playoffs before bowing out against Argyle, 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-20).
Wylie finished 34-8 for the season, losing for the second straight year in the regional round. With only one senior on the team, coach Shay Cox’s team is poised for another deep run next fall.
Argyle advanced to the Division II state tournament with wins over Grapevine for the Region I title and Liberty in the semifinals. In the final, Argyle fell 3-0 to Cedar Park in a tightly contested match (26-24, 25-22, 27-25).
It’s no surprise that Wylie led all-district choices for 2025. Top honors were:
Outstanding Hitter of the Year - sophomore Kiki Bolden
Outstanding Blocker of the Year - junior Haddie Mock
Outstanding Defender of the Year - junior Logan Hill
Named to the all-2-5A first team were senior Avery LaCroix, sophomore Annalise Loudermilk and sophomore Jenna Stricklin.
Second-team choices were sophomore D’Nae Dolton and junior Kenley Collier.
Honorable mention were Morgan Bearden, Reese Cave and Catelee Loudermilk, all sophomores.
Cox was especially proud to note that her entire roster also received academic all-district honors. That list includes juniors Kylie Clay and Karlee Cutbirth and sophomore Riley Calvo.
