The Wylie Swim Team tallied 19 regional qualifiers in 33 total events as part of their successful day in the pool while placing 2nd overall as a team at the District 4-5A Championships Thursday in Lubbock.
Diego Duarte won the individual district championship in the 50-meter freestyle while setting a new meet record with a time of 21.67 seconds. The boys relay team of Duarte, Teagan Dougherty, Laton Thompson and Josh Heidema also took the district championship in the 200-meter freestyle relay.
WHS also has nine girl alternates and six boy alternates who have a chance at advancing to the regional meet based on individual results versus competing districts.
