Wylie ISD and Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union is proud to recognize six Wylie High School students selected as the WHS Student-Athletes of the Month for February 2026.
Hylan Atwood
Senior
Hylan is a competitor on the Wylie powerlifting team. She is a member of the WHS National Honor Society and is active as a partner in the Unified Bulldogs program. Hylan attends Beltway Park Church and works at Teapioca Lounge. Her hobbies include hanging out with friends, working out, and shopping. Hylan plans to attend Oklahoma State University and pursue a career in nursing.
Kayleb Burns
Kayleb is a goalkeeper on the 2026 Wylie varsity boys’ soccer team. Away from school, he lists his favorite hobby as sleeping. He also helps his dad with service work through the non-profit organization Under One Flag. After graduation, Kayleb has plans to attend Texas Tech University in the fall.
Brookyn Cano
Senior
Brooklyn plays for the 2026 Wylie girls varsity soccer team, and she is a member of the WHS National Honor Society as well as the theatre and choir programs. Outside of school, you’ll find her attending Beltway Park Church or playing club soccer for ECNL Sting. Brooklyn plans to attend college, major in musical theater and work somewhere in entertainment in the future.
Joyah Maroney
Senior
Joyah is a four-year letter winner for the Wylie girls basketball team. She also participates in the WHS Student-to-Student program and is a member of the WHS National Honor Society. She goes to South Side Baptist Church where she volunteers in the nursery, and she also volunteers at All Kind Animal Shelter. Her hobbies include reading, working out, and hanging out with her family. Joyah plans to attend Texas A&M University where she will major in Business Management.
Joseph Nsabimana
Senior
Joseph competes for the Wylie boys powerlifting team. When he is not at school lifting the heavy weights, you’ll find Joseph pursuing his hobby of learning financial management. After graduation, Joseph is looking forward to pursuing his college plans.
Blaze Ruffin
Junior
Blaze competes on varsity for the Wylie football, basketball, baseball and track teams. He is also involved in the WHS academic programs of sports and entertainment marketing, principles of business, and entrepreneurship. He attends church Oldham Lane and he is active in volunteer work in many areas across Abilene. He enjoys hanging out with friends in his down time. Blaze hopes to pursue a career in coaching after high school.
