Bulldog Softball Wins District Opener Over Cooper

The Wylie softball team opened District 4-5A play by taking down the Cooper Cougars 5-2 in the first round of the Southdown Showdown Tuesday at Cooper High School.

The Bulldogs scored in each of the first two innings to seize control of the game, helping WHS pitcher Avie Faries cruise in the pitching circle. Faries pitched four scoreless innings while striking out six Cougar batters. Shae McAllister finished off the pitching duties with three innings of work, striking out three.

Offensively, Wynslow Miller went 1-3 with two runs batted in, and Kaylee Hassell added a double.

The Lady Bulldogs (13-10, 1-0) will play their first home district game this Friday, March 20 when they host Wichita Falls Legacy. First pitch is set for 6:30 pm.
