Hannah Bailey was announced 2026 homecoming queen at halftime of the Wylie vs Stephenville football game Friday night at Sandifer Stadium.

The queen and her court were presented and Bailey crowned by Student Council president Alex Burkhart, son of Christi and Jamie Burkhart.

“I was so shocked. I just love everyone on the court this year so I had absolutely no clue as to who would win,” Bailey said after the game, in between posing for photos on the football field.

“I was just in pure shock. I felt so grateful that I have such a great community around me.”

Will it make the rest of her senior year even better?

“It will,” she said.

Bailey treasured the moment with her father, Jay. She said they have a great relationship, which made the moment even more special.

“And our matching outfits were so cute,” she said, laughing.

Five members of the Class of 2027 were selected ahead of time to vie for the honor. The WHS student body then voted.

The five queen nominees were:

Bailey, daughter of Jay and Sara Bailey. She has been involved with Unified Bulldogs, Student 2 Student (secretary this year), FCA (social media director), PALS, and Texas Association of Future Educators (historian and national project qualifier). She also volunteers for Special Olympics. Bailey is senior class present. She plans to attend Abilene Christian University to study elementary education.

Lane Adams, daughter of Ty and Jaime Adams. She is in the National Honor Society, PALS, and a three-year member of the varsity cheer team. She is co-captain this year. She plans to attend either the University of Arkansas or Texas Tech to study the healthcare industry.

Claire Fellows, daughter of Becky and Ryan Fellows. She has been a part of The Purple Dog Company, PALS, Student 2 Student, and National Honor Society (president this year). She is a four-year member of the soccer team and earned honors as captain, district MVP, newcomer of the year, and selected for the Class 5A all-state team. She plans to attend Texas A&M University to study business law.

Elena Liew, daughter of Adriana Frosoni and Damon Liew. She has been involved with The Purple Dog Company, Student 2 Student, and National Honor Society (vice present this year). She is the co-caption of the varsity cheer team. Off campus, she volunteers for Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Camp Rehab, and the Western Heritage Classic rodeo. She plans to attend either Texas A&M or the University of Texas to study speech communication sciences and disorders.

Hope Willis, daughter of Steven and Nancy Willis. She is a member of National Honor Society, Bulldogs Protection Program, and a four-year member (captain this year) of the tennis team. A two-time district MVP, she is a three-time state medalist and two-time defending singles champion. Off campus, she volunteers at United Way’s Winter Lightfest, Christmas Lane, and Hendrick Health's Hope Fun. She plans to play Division I tennis in college while studying the healthcare industry.

All five girls are active church members, and all five girls were escorted by their fathers.

Wylie alums returning for homecoming saw their first WHS color guard presentation before the game, which also featured the singing of the national anthem by Purple Reign, the high school’s choir.

Also, the Pure Gold band performed its entire 2026 UIL show, “The Ashes of Us,” for the first time.

Wylie fell 42-23 to powerhouse Stephenville in the football game.
