Reese Farrar pitched a complete-game shutout and the Bulldog bats collected 11 hits as the Wylie softball team opened up the 2023 season with a 14-0 run-rule victory over San Angelo Central Tuesday night at Bulldog Stadium.

The WHS offense was hot from start to finish, putting up six runs in the first inning and adding a single run in the second and seven more in the fourth.

Jadyn Fernandez - a Wayland Baptist University signee - led the Bulldog offensive attack by starting her senior campaign with three hits. Camron Gregory added two hits in the season debut as well.

Farrar (1-0) was impressive in the pitching circle allowing just one Central hit. Her complete game shutout included six strikeouts.

Wylie is back on the diamond beginning Thursday in the Godley Tournament. The three-day tourney includes four pool play games on Thursday and Friday before bracket play on Saturday. Game 1 of pool play is against Jim Ned on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
