An impressive seven-run third inning proved to be enough as the Wylie baseball team erased an early deficit and cruised past their district and crosstown rival Abilene High 10-4 Tuesday night at AHS.

The Bulldogs strung together seven hits in the third frame – including four consecutive hits – that gave the Bulldogs the lead for the night. Tye Briscoe’s two-run triple that plated KJ Long and Reese Borho started the scoring. Hays Sipe then added an RBI single as did Colby Garrett and Long. Braden Regala and Brady Clark also tabbed RBI’s with a fielder’s choice and sacrifice fly.

Garrett led the way with three hits. Sipe, Long and Sam Walker added two hits apiece.

Walker was also clutch in relief, pitching six innings with eight strikeouts and only one run allowed.

Wylie is now 14-9-1 on the season and currently sit in five-way tie for first place in District 4-5A at 8-5.

The Bulldogs have five games remaining on the district schedule beginning with a home contest versus Abilene Cooper on Friday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m.
