Softball Dominates Plainview to Win Bi-District Trophy
The Wylie softball team used the combination of dominant pitching and equally impressive hitting to put together back-to back five inning run-rule victories, 11-1 and 10-0, to sweep Plainview in the Class 5A di-district playoffs last weekend in Lubbock.

In Game 1, WHS senior pitcher Reese Farrar struck out 14 and retired 15 consecutive batters as the Bulldogs cruised to and 11-1 win. After giving up an unearned run in the first inning, Farrar did not allow another base runner the rest of the game.

The Wylie bats came to life early and often, scoring in four of their five offensive innings. Cameron Gregory led the way with three hits while Jaydn Fernandez added two hits and three runs batted in.

Game 2 was much of the same as Mycala Reed’s second inning grand slam, three hits and five total RBI in the game paced WHS to an 10-0 win and a sweep of the series. Farrar and George each added two hits in the win.

Rylee Moore pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just one hit and striking out eight.

The Bulldogs (28-6) advance to the area round of the Class 5A playoffs where they will face El Paso Parkland. The three-game series gets underway on Friday, May 5 at 6:30 pm CST with game 2 set for Saturday, May 6 beginning at 12:00 pm CST. Game 3 will follow if necessary.
