The Wylie Lady Bulldogs softball team made quick work of their second consecutive playoff opponent with two overriding pitching performances combined with a weekend a total of 30 runs and 31 hits to claim the Class 5A area championship, 20-1 and 10-0, against El Paso Parkland last weekend in Odessa.

Pitcher Reese Farrar set the tone again in Game 1 as she struck out 10 batters and allowed only one hit in the 20-1 win. Eight different WHS players had multiple hit games including Jadyn Fernandez (3 hits, 3 RBI) and Cameron Gregory (3 hits, 3 RBI). The Bulldogs blew the game open in the seventh inning with a 13-run barrage.

It was more of the same for Wylie in Game 2 as Rylee Moore pitched a no-hitter, leading the team to a 10-0 run-rule victory in five innings.

In four playoff games, Wylie pitching has given up a total of three hits.

WHS (30-6) moves into the Class 5A regional quarterfinals where they will meet El Paso Hanks. The three-game set first pitches on Friday, May 12 at 6:00 pm CST. Game 2 is Saturday, May 13 at 11:00 am CST with a game 3 to follow if necessary.

All games will be played at Monahans High School.
