It was a great start to the postseason for the Wylie Bulldog baseball team with two run-rule victories over Plainview to claim the Class 5A bi-district championship last weekend, 15-5 in six innings and 12-2 in five.
The Bulldog bats were hot on the home turf in Thursday’s Game 1 as WHS scored seven runs in the first inning and three more in the second to cruise to the 15-5 win. Brady Clark and Reese Borho hit long balls to set the tone for the bats.
Clark picked up the win on the mound, and Braden Regala stole the defensive show with a rob of a Plainview home run in the fourth.
Sam Walker dominated the mound for Wylie in Game 2 Saturday in Plainview, pitching a complete-game and striking out seven. The offense pounded out 12 hits to make quick work of the home team.
The Bulldogs (19-11-1) advance to the Class 5A area playoffs and awaiting them this weekend is El Paso Del Valle. The best-of-three series starts Friday, May 12 at 6:00 pm CST. Game 2 is Saturday, May 13 at 11:00 am CST and game 3 will follow if necessary.
The series will be played at Monahans High School.
