WYLIE ISD WELCOMES MIKE FECCI AS NEW DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

Wylie ISD Welcomes Mike Fecci as New Director of Athletics
The Wylie ISD School Board accepted the recommendation of Superintendent Mr. Joey Light of Mike Fecci as the district’s first full-time Director of Athletics at the March 4 school board meeting.

Fecci brings 26 years of educational experience and a well-documented winning pedigree with him to Wylie ISD. His previous 19 years in education have been dedicated to serving McKinney ISD, most recently as the Associate Director of Athletics since 2022. Prior to his time in district leadership, he led McKinney North High School as head football coach for 13 seasons, and he was twice recognized as the District Coach of the Year.

“Mike Fecci is going to be a great addition to Wylie ISD,” says Mr. Light. “We believe that he brings outstanding experience that will be a great asset to our athletic program, athletes and our community as we continue to grow.”

Fecci’s selection as Director of Athletics at Wylie ISD ensures the continued success of the Wylie athletic
program. He takes over the responsibilities that had been managed by Clay Martin who served as both Athletic Director and head football coach since 2020.

During the district’s time of transition, Martin elected to remain as Wylie’s leader of the football program. In his four seasons, he has compiled a record of 26-18 including three playoff appearances and an undefeated district championship in 2022.

Fecci is a 1998 graduate of Hardin Simmons University where he was a letterwinner for the Cowboy football team. He also obtained a master’s degree in education administration from Lamar University. He and his wife Amy have two adult children, Max and Brinkley.

“This is a tremendous place and is a place that I have always looked at and admired from afar and to now get the chance to be a part of that and to grow with y’all is extremely exciting to me and my family,” says Fecci. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will not disappoint you. You won’t find a guy that will work harder and keep the kids in our community at the center of everything because that is what it is all about is the kids and the experiences that they are having.”
