It was a clean sweep of the competition for the Wylie girls basketball team last weekend as the Lady Bulldogs went 4-0 and claimed the championship at the Van Griffith Kia Invitational in Granbury.
WHS won two their pool play games on Thursday versus Burleson Centennial (54-31) and Canyon Randall (53-43) to qualify for Friday and Saturday's gold bracket play.
In Friday's semifinal, the Bulldogs beat the host team Granbury 58-38 to set up Saturday's championship showdown with Amarillo Tascosa. WHS grinded out a 36-30 win to finish the weekend undefeated and win the title.
As part of the championship weekend, junior Joyah Maroney and sophomore Londyn Franklin were also both named to the All-Tournament team.
With the tournament title, the Lady Bulldogs improve their record to 13-2 on the season. They return home on Tuesday, December 10 when they host Wolfforth Frenship. The varsity game is scheduled to tip at 6:30 pm.
