Wylie ISD and Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union would like to congratulate the six Wylie High School students selected as the WHS Student-Athletes of the Month for December 2024.
Maria Brigino
Sophomore
Maria participates in both swimming and soccer at WHS, and her academics keep her involved in Dual Credit Medical Terminology, the Hendrick Academy, HOSA, Honors Health Science Theory, and the WHS student council. She attends Holy Family Catholic Church and volunteers to receive community hours to get confirmed. She also works out at the YMCA, works there as a lifeguard and takes care of the kids at “kidsfit.” Maria has plans to swim competitively at the University of Texas, study in the medical field and pursue a career as a nurse.
Nick Canaba
Senior
Nick is a member of the Wylie varsity boys basketball team. Away from WHS, he attends church at Beltway. After graduation, Nick plans to pursue a career as a physical therapist.
Caden Garza
Junior
Caden is a three sport-athlete at Wylie participating in football, soccer and track. Off the playing fields, Caden is in the CNA program at WHS. He also runs a deejay business and lawn mowing business, and he’s currently pursuing internship opportunities for January 2025. After WHS, Caden would like to go to college and get his degree in physical therapy.
JT Partin
Senior
JT is a member of the WHS swim team. He is active in his youth group and recently received his eagle scout rank in Boy Scouts. He loves to write, sing and play song on his guitar, and he also loves to be in the outdoors whether he’s hunting, fishing or just working at the ranch. JT plans to attend Texas Tech University to study agricultural economics and general business and possibly a little music as well. After school, he plans to return to Abilene to take over his family’s roofing company and further expand their ranching operation while continuing to pursue his passion for music.
Presley Rasmussen
Junior
Presley plays varsity basketball and participates in varsity track. She is also involved in the WHS student council and the FCCLA program. Presley enjoys crocheting with her grandmother and great grandmother, hunting with her dad as well as volunteering with youth sports. She plans to attend Baylor University with the long-term goal of becoming a surgeon.
Kaitlyn Viola
Senior
Kaitlyn is a goalkeeper on the Wylie varsity soccer team, and she is also a part of the Wylie High School CNA program, participates in HOSA competitions. Kaitlyn is a member of Wylie MedLife Hendrick Health Care Academy which allows her to explore different healthcare fields and meet new people. Kaitlyn volunteers at Hendrick Medical Center North in the Structural Heart Clinic and Central Supply where she helps with patient transport and clerical work and helps pull supplies for different units in the hospital. She also volunteered at the Special Olympics hosted by Wylie and participates in the Stone Owl Scholarship Program. Kaitlyn plans to attend Texas A&M to study nursing.
