The Wylie Bulldog tennis team opened District 4-5A play with an impressive 16-3 victory over Lubbock High Saturday morning at Wylie High School.
WHS closed out their non-district schedule last Thursday at home defeating San Angelo Central 19-0. After the match, the Bulldogs and Bobcats enjoyed a team dinner together that included former Wylie assistant coach now Central head coach Brent Abilez. Coach Abilez was at Wylie from 2014-2018 and played for current Wylie Coach Mark Hathorn at McMurry University.
The Bulldogs, currently ranked #1 in the state in Class 5A currently hold a record of 17-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. They return to the court on Saturday, September 17 at Lubbock Coronado. the match is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
