The Wylie volleyball team opened their 2024 campaign with two tough matches on the road Tuesday, battling Class 6A Frenship to the end in five games before falling to 2023 state finalist Canyon Randall.

After falling behind two games to one versus Frenship (25-17, 21-25, 15-25), the Bulldogs forced a decisive fifth game by winning game four 25-15. The Tigers would rally to win game five and the match by a score of 11-15.

Every set versus Randall was stretched to the end as well, but the Raiders were able to secure the win 23-25-22-25, 21-25.

WHS sophomore Haddie Mock led the Bulldogs in kills (20), aces (7) and blocks (4) through the two matches while senior Callie O'Connell was the leader in assists (39) and senior Taylar Riley in digs (20).

The Bulldogs are back on the court playing in the annual Bev ball Classic Friday and Saturday in Abilene.
